Eritreans have spent over half a million dollars voting for Snit Habteab in Miss World — and the clock is still ticking

Snit Habteab Tewoldemedhin, Eritrea's first-ever Miss World contestant, has widened her lead in the pageant's People's Choice vote, according to the latest leaderboard figures on the official voting platform, missworld.1voting.com. Her point total now stands at 6,590,167 — up from the 4,755,537 Asmara Post reported on August 27 — well clear of second-placed Nigeria's Soye Karibi-George (3,491,669) and third-placed Ethiopia's Ruth Yirgalem (2,839,930).

The same leaderboard displays a countdown clock reading 61 hours, 33 minutes and 55 seconds remaining, putting the close of Round 1 voting in early September — consistent with the September 4 deadline Asmara Post previously reported for this voting round.

As previously reported, the contestant with the most voting points in each of the pageant's four continental groups is named that region's Continental People's Choice winner and secures direct entry into the Top 40, with Round 1 votes carrying over into later rounds.

Voting on the platform is not free: points are sold in packages, including a $40 tier for 500 points — 8 cents per point.
