As Round 1 voting reaches its close, Snit Habteab tops Miss World's global leaderboard, not just Africa's

Round 1 of the Miss World 2026 People's Choice vote has reached its scheduled close, and the official voting platform, missworld.1voting.com — which lists all contestants worldwide on a single unified leaderboard, not split by continent — shows Snit Habteab Tewoldemedhin, Eritrea's first-ever Miss World contestant, ranked first overall with 13,808,722 points. Nigeria's Soye Karibi-George is second worldwide with 8,019,569 points, and Ethiopia's Ruth Yirgalem is third with 3,231,760 — meaning the top three spots on the entire global leaderboard are all held by African contestants.

Asmara Post previously reported that Round 1 voting was scheduled to end on September 4, alongside a broader schedule of on-site pageant events in Nha Trang, Vietnam. Results have not yet been formally announced by the pageant.

As previously reported, the contestant with the most voting points in each of the pageant's four continental groups is named that region's Continental People's Choice winner and secures direct entry into the Top 40. Habteab's margin over Nigeria and Ethiopia makes her the clear favorite for Africa's continental title. Separately, whichever contestant holds the highest point total worldwide — across all four continents combined — is named the overall People's Choice winner and advances directly into the Top 6, bypassing the Top 40 and Top 12 stages entirely. Habteab's total is currently the highest of any contestant on the platform, which would put her in that position, though the pageant has not yet made a formal announcement.
